Imagine Communications returns as a Gold sponsor of SVG Europe

Imagine Communications has renewed its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe.

Looking back on a busy 12 months, Mathias Eckert, SVP & GM EMEA and APAC at Imagine Communications (pictured), said: “2022 was the year that sport fans had been waiting for, and production professionals delivered in a major way. The sporting calendar was packed with premier events, kicking off with the Australian Open and the Beijing Games and closing with the first-ever winter hosting of the FIFA World Cup.

“But sheer volume was not the ultimate goal in 2022, as there was a continuing push for higher quality media in professional sport production. Even UHD and HDR were not sensational enough for the Winter Games – 8K gave fans even more to cheer about!”

When asked about sporting projects Imagine has worked on recently, Eckert said: “We collaborated with a number of customers who pushed the envelope on quality in pioneering projects over the past year. One recent example is our work with MultiChoice, operator of Africa’s premier sports broadcaster, SuperSport. They used an Imagine hybrid SDI-IP playout and infrastructure foundation to take UHD channels to air for the first time, providing sports fans with premium-quality coverage of the football tournament in Qatar.”

Eckert added: “Looking ahead at 2023, Imagine will continue to innovate – but never simply for innovation’s sake. Our technology roadmap aligns tightly with both the current needs and the next-gen vision of the media industry, which is why the open debates of SVG Europe are so important to us.

“SVG provides an invaluable forum for knowledge-sharing, as well as virtual and physical stages where vendors and customers can learn from each other and engage in lively discussions that benefit the entire industry.

“These are among the many reasons Imagine remains committed to the work of SVG in Europe, and why we continue to provide sponsorship for the organisation and support its activities.”
