Infront handles production for Men’s EHF coverage
The Men’s EHF (European Handball Federation) European Handball Championship reached its conclusion this weekend (26 January), with full HD broadcast coverage and live streaming on the dedicated Handball Euro YouTube channel.
The tournament – won this year by France in a 41-32 victory over hosts Denmark – was held in four venues, each with a HD OB truck on site to provide feeds for host broadcaster TV2 to distribute to other rights holding channels. Independent TV sport specialist Infront Sports and Media was responsible for the production, supervising all operations of TV2 Denmark.
The preliminary, main and final rounds took place in the city of Herning on the Jutland peninsular and were covered by a TV2 scanner. The camera set-up included 13 Sony HDC-2400s and HDC-3300 Superslow systems. This set-up was replicated at Aalborg (truck supplied by OB Team of Norway), Aarhus (Dblux, Denmark) and Copenhagen (Studios A/S, Denmark).
Special cameras included an in-goal unit built on a remote-controlled zoom-pan-tilt head by Bradley Engineering, a Steadicam on a microlink, a Spidercam and a NAC Hi-Motion II UltraMotion high speed camera, supplied by Fletcher London, for super slow-motion shots during the final.
Graphics were generated though a Vizrt engine, with all data also fed to a commentary information system with touch screen monitors. Playback of replay segments came from EVS servers, while highlight packages were compiled on Avid workstation.
The Handball Euro YouTube channel took the world feed, which was down-linked by Infront Media at its master control room in Milan and then uploaded to the web for live streaming with commentary.
