ITN Productions to make Channel 4 highlights programmes for Para Athletics and Para Swimming
ITN Productions’ sport division has been commissioned by Channel 4 to make two 60-minute highlights shows to showcase the best of the World Para Athletics European Championships in Berlin and the World Para-Swimming Allianz European Championships in Dublin this summer.
Both shows, to be hosted by British TV presenter Sophie Morgan, will be aired after the completion of each of the competitions on Sunday mornings. They will bring together expert pundits from different disciplines as well as showing the most dramatic elements of the competition. The programmes will also incorporate interviews and user-generated content from athletes themselves.
The World Para-Swimming Allianz European Championships is hosted in Dublin from 13-19 August and the hour-long highlights show will broadcast on 26 August at 8.30am. The Berlin World Para Athletics European Championships takes place from 20-26 August with the one-hour highlights show to air on 2 September at 8.30am.
Stephen Lyle, head of sport, Channel 4 said: “Channel 4 is immensely proud of the quality and creativity associated with our para-sport programming. We are very excited to be working with ITN Productions’ sport division to bring our audiences the best of these international events.”
Tim Godfrey, partnerships director, sport, at ITN Productions said: “We are delighted to showcase our credentials as a creative sports programme maker bringing not only the excitement of these competitions through the highlights but also insights and distinctive content from the athletes themselves.”
The shows will be produced by paralympic specialist Anneka Radley, and Mark Fulton, executive producer, ITN Productions.
