Lagardère Sports wins multi-year deal as Host Broadcaster for the Dubai Marathon

Lagardère Sports has been appointed as Host Broadcaster for the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, in a multi-year agreement covering 2016-2018. As part of the appointment Lagardère Sports will provide a wide range of broadcast, media and production services for the event.

The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label race, has a history of attracting some of the world’s best elite runners. The race in 2016, taking place on 22 January 2016, will again see top ranked marathon runners take part with many using the race to achieve the Olympic qualification times necessary to run in the Olympic marathon next summer, in Rio. With a tax-free prize fund and bonuses it is also the richest marathon in the world.

Taking the lead as Host Broadcaster, Lagardère Sports will be able to use their specialist knowledge and skills to provide all radio frequency (RF) transmission facilities required to deliver a live television signal for the race, all technical management, outside broadcast trucks, motorbikes and helicopters for filming as well as 12 cameras and a full TV crew.

The full Host Broadcast service will be in addition to media and production services that are being provided for the event. Lagardère Sports will also produce the graphics systems for timing and scoring and create a highlights show with integrated commentary, as well as exciting content for social media platforms.

Lagardère Sports also distributes the international media rights for the race. In 2015, the event was shown live on Fox Sports Asia, Fox LAM, Zuku Africa, Super Sport pan-Africa and Dubai Sports Channel on a pan-Middle East basis.

In the United Arab Emirates, Lagardère Sports has also been involved with the broadcast and delivery of the 2013 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championships, FINA World Aquatic Series and HSBC Asian Five Nations Rugby, as well as being appointed the marketing representatives of the Asian Football Confederation and the 2019 Asian Cup.
