Lawo enabling host feed and more for leading motor-racing events
In the latest project to underline the German professional audio and video manufacturer’s sports broadcasting credentials, Lawo is facilitating the F1 host feed for Formula One Management, as well as cooperating with rights’ holders including Sky (UK), Sky Italia and RTL.
Christian Struck, senior product manager audio production at Lawo, explains: “The main reasons for FoM in using Lawo consoles is the extensive Audio-follow-Video functionality and mxGUI, offline preparation software, and Lawo’s networking capabilities. For the rights’ holders, high power on a small footprint is the primary issue, but networking and automation are really important too. In combination with the [L-S-B Technologies’] VSM system, everything is really integrated and allows the perfect workflow for all customers.”
The company’s technology is also integral to enabling coverage of MotoGP for Dorna Sports, with Lawo “providing even more than for Formula One as the setup includes the main console for the host-feed as well as the Lawo Commentary System. Lawo’s extensive surround sound capabilities, its Audio-follow-Video functionality and offline preparation via the Lawo mxGUI tool are essential to the console’s use in MotoGP. Also vital are the VSM overall control system and, of course, the small footprint. For right’ holders the networking into the Dorna system is the main consideration,” says Struck.
