Limelight “ready, willing and able to help” customers throughout crisis

Limelight Networks has said it is ready to help its customers to continue to deliver over the top (OTT) content on its interconnected private networks during the coronavirus crisis.

On Limelight’s strategy throughout this coronavirus pandemic, Andrew Gray, marketing director EMEA at Limelight Networks, told SVG Europe: “Limelight continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic in real time and follow the guidelines of health and government authorities. We’ve implemented policies and extra precautions to protect our people, customers, and partners, which have included arranging for our employees across the globe to work from home who are able to do so, eliminating non-essential business travel, and enhanced cleaning in our offices, and social distancing.

“We will continue to stand together with our customers – ready, willing and able to help – as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve,” continued Gray. “At Limelight, we’re proud that we operate one of the world’s largest and most interconnected private networks. Our network is fully redundant and includes extensive diversity through data centre and telecommunications suppliers within and across regions.

“We’ve built out significant additional capacity to support growing OTT demands – more than 70% increase in the last year alone – and we employ sophisticated quality of service (QoS) and congestion control techniques to mitigate negative effects under extraordinary conditions like these,” he noted.

As to how Limelight’s technology and services can specifically help sports media organisations and their workers to continue to produce content in more remote and collaborative ways at this time, Gray stated: “Limelight is here to help your company take whatever steps you need to mitigate the traffic impact of COVID-19 for you and your customers. If you expect significant changes to your traffic pattern or have questions or concerns, please reach out to your Limelight team. For more information on the actions we’ve taken to ensure business continuity for our customers, please refer to Limelight’s COVID-19 FAQs.”

He concluded: “We appreciate your loyalty and the trust you place in us to deliver your video and digital content. As the concerns around COVID-19 continue to grow, we’ll take the appropriate steps necessary to ensure Limelight’s high-quality services are not interrupted.”
