Linear DAZN channels added to Vodafone pay-TV service in Germany

DAZN has launched two linear channels on Vodafone’s IPTV platform in Germany after securing a reseller deal with the telecoms company.

The agreement will see two HD channels, DAZN1 and DAZN2, show approximately 16 hours of sports content every day on the GigaTV service, with matches from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Bundesliga all available.

The contract price will be set at €9.99 per month for a one-year contract that will also include access to the DAZN app.

The full DAZN viewing experience, which includes live and original content and various other features including alternative audio feeds, catch-up and highlights, will still only be available via the DAZN app.

In a statement, Ben King, the DAZN Group’s chief subscription officer, said: “[Our] philosophy is to make premium sport more accessible and affordable for all fans. This consumer-centric partnership with Vodafone now brings DAZN to more than five million German households, regardless of whether they can access the app on their set-top box and lets them pay for all their entertainment on a single bill.

“It is a great example of how entertainment services and operators can collaborate together to deliver more intuitive and satisfying viewing experiences for all sport fans.”

The launch extends the partnership between DAZN and Vodafone that recently saw the DAZN app pre-installed on GigaTV.

DAZN currently offers two linear channels in Germany to commercial premises, including bars, restaurants, hotels, betting shops and serviced apartments.

The live and on-demand sports streamer also launched a linear channel in Italy last year called DAZN1, showing select content including Serie A, Serie B and other sports.
