Live from CES: Panasonic intros 4K Blu-ray player; new UHD sets

Panasonic’s consumer electronics plans for 2015 will be highlighted by the introduction of a prototype Blu-ray player that is capable of playing 4K content as well as four new UHD TV series comprising nine new models.

“The Blu-ray disk prototype paves the way towards enabling consumers to enjoy the crisp true-to-life quality and high dynamic range of UHD in their own homes,” said Julie Bauer, president of Panasonic Consumer Electronics Corporation of North America.

The CX850 UHD set is the new flagship model, offering new technology via White Color Phosphors that allow it to display 98% of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) as well as color accuracy technology that is currently only available in professional studio monitors.

“We will be lining our TVs up against professional studio monitors [at our booth] to show how accurate they are,” added Bauer.
