Live From IBC 2024: Canon’s Jack Adair Showcases CJ27 Lens/Driver, EOS C400 and C80 Cameras

At IBC 2024, Canon Europe marketing specialist Jack Adair provides an overview of some of the company’s latest tools for live production acquisition, including the CJ27 lens and driver, the EOS C400 and the EOS C80.

The CJ27ex7.3B lens, part of their UHDxs series, features a 27x zoom range (7.3mm to nearly 200mm) and a 1.5x extender for added flexibility in live production. The new EX5 drive unit for the CJ27 lens includes redesigned ergonomics, repositioned LCD display, and improved hand grip for better comfort and extended shooting periods. It also supports virtual production by outputting metadata through encoders

Canon launched the EOS C400 cinema camera with large sensor and built-in features suited for live production, including time code generation and compatibility with RF-mount lenses. It pairs with the newly updated CN7 x 17 lens. The EOS C80 is a compact camera with a native RF-mount and full-frame, back- illuminated stacked CMOS sensor designed for pitchside and mobile use in live sports coverage. It features a 6K full-frame sensor and shares similar features with the C400, including triple base ISO for superior low-light performance. Both the EOS C400 and C80 cameras excel in low-light conditions, making them ideal for capturing high-quality footage in darker environments, such as nighttime sports events.
