MediaKind has once again renewed its Gold level sponsorship of SVG Europe. The company says it is looking forward to taking an active role in the association’s events calendar in what promises to be a fascinating year for the sports video industry.

MediaKind provides an end-to-end portfolio of media solutions, including Emmy award-winning video compression solutions for contribution and direct-to-consumer (D2C) video service distribution; advertising and content personalisation solutions; high-efficiency cloud DVR; and TV and video delivery platforms.

Steve Payne, SVP strategic partners, and business development, MediaKind, said: “We are delighted to be Gold sponsors of SVG Europe. This membership offers us the opportunity to engage with leaders and influencers from all walks of the sporting world at both international trade shows and SVG Europe’s bespoke events.”

MediaKind’s end-to-end portfolio equips sports leagues, broadcasters and content owners with the necessary tools and solutions to deliver premium live sports content. For example, Cygnus Contribution provides bandwidth-efficient, low latency point-to-point live video contribution, including remote production applications. It delivers content via satellite or IP media workflows, with reliable and secure ingest into managed networks or public cloud. In addition, the Aquila Streaming solution enables OTT media delivery service on any network with a broadcast-like experience while creating new revenue streams with digital dynamic ad-insertion.

Last year MediaKind published its inaugural 2021 Sports D2C Forecast which offers insights into the opportunities for sports broadcasters and other rights-holders in D2C delivery models. The study’s main findings highlighted the growing need for sports rights-holders to build D2C services into their offering to enhance fan engagement and tap into new monetisation streams.

While most of the 40 sports rights-holders that MediaKind analysed defined their D2C platform as complementary to broadcast coverage, most regarded it as an essential part of their future distribution strategy for live sport and building direct touchpoints with fans.

Payne added: “The two-way nature of internet delivery allows for a far richer and more immersive experience for fans, and we welcome the opportunity to discuss the market potential of the D2C space with SVG Europe’s outstanding sports network and community.

“Sponsorship of SVG Europe provides us with a strong platform to demonstrate our live sports offerings, which are deployed by some of the world’s leading sports leagues and federations to deliver highly compelling and engaging content at scale, as well as niche sports and esports brands finding their footing in the broadcast world.

“We look forward to working with the team at SVG Europe and further extending our knowledge of the European and global sports market.”
