MediaPro wins Spanish media rights for 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar

The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar media rights for Spain have been won by MediaPro. A dedicated channel with 24/7 programming will be created for the event, which runs from 21 November to 18 December. The agreement also includes the media rights to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 as well as other FIFA events.

The celebration of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in the months of November and December marks a new era in FIFA World Cup history. The shift in schedule will ensure a greater following and impact on TV, coinciding with the general break for national league competitions when all supporters’ eyes will be focused on the competition in Qatar.

MediaPro will run a dedicated 24/7 channel in Spain for the FIFA World Cup. In addition to the broadcast of the tournament matches, the channel will offer an all-around programming schedule with analysis, news, interviews, training sessions, press conferences and historic matches.

The agreement with FIFA also includes the broadcasting rights to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 taking place in France this summer (7 June to 7 July), in line with the Group’s strategic commitment to promoting and developing women’s football and providing visibility for its competitions. The Spanish national team qualified for the competition in Group B together with Germany, China PR and South Africa.

Moreover, the deal includes the acquisition of the broadcasting rights to a series of other FIFA events in the 2019-2022 cycle, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland (May-June 2019), FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru (October 2019), the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay (November 2019), the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania (September-October 2020).
