Mediatec adds Grass Valley camera channels
Sweden: Swedish OB provider Mediatec has just bought 22 LDK 8000 Elite high definition cameras from Grass Valley, bringing the total of its fleet to almost 100. This order, placed towards the tail end of 2010, follows a previous order for eight LDK 8000 Elite cameras and two Kayak production switchers for two new outside broadcast trucks in September of 2010.
Mediatec, which operates 30 trucks throughout the region, and Grass Valley first started building their relationship in 2007 when Grass Valley supplied two large HD OB trucks which were first used at the Beijing Olympic Games.
“Our business continues to expand, and we quickly needed more cameras,” said Mats Berggren, Sales Director at Mediatec. “There are cheaper cameras on the market but we were looking for guaranteed reliability, quality, and performance—and that’s what the LDK 8000 Elite provides. It is very popular with our clients and our operators for one simple reason: it produces great pictures every time, and that alone makes it a far superior product than those with a lower price tag.”
The new order for 22 cameras includes HD-fibre transmission capable of delivering full 1080p50/60 from the basestation. The order, which also included lenses, tripods, and heads, was placed in late December 2010 with delivery in January and February 2011.
