Movicom seeking to provide freelance staff with alternative employment during COVID-19 crisis

Movicom’s Robycam hard at work

Movicom is looking to find alternative ways of providing employment for those freelance staff who would ordinarily be covering international sporting events for the company.

In a statement, the company said: “The global pandemic is drastically affecting the whole broadcast industry. Movicom, as an organisation, is trying to address these challenges, meet the needs of our clients, and help the local broadcast communities in the best way that we can.

“Currently our production units are running under almost normal operations. We continue to make every effort to meet the deadlines and guarantee that our clients receive their equipment on time. We are constantly monitoring the unfolding situation and we strive to diligently observe local government guidelines. We are doing our best to create a safe and clean environment for our manufacturing team and have encouraged others to work remotely as much as they can using our state of the art IT infrastructure.

“A vast number of freelancers who have been devotedly working for us at international events are now dramatically affected by the downturn. We are working to come up with alternative ways to engage these people both professionally and creatively and let them know that their work is truly valued. We sincerely appreciate their flexibility, eagerness to adapt, learn and collaborate in these trying times.

“Our client services team remains active and is available for contact at any time, albeit remotely. We are discovering new ways of communicating with our customers, informing them about our products and solutions. This type of growth is both challenging and exciting. Like everyone, we are doing what we can to make the best of a difficult situation.

“We are honestly grateful to our clients, partners, and suppliers for their cooperation, support, and adaptability. In these uncertain and difficult times, we feel we are blessed to observe and enjoy such compassion, compromise, and humanity.

“We hope for everyone to get through this global challenge with minimum disruption and loss while eagerly looking forward to working together again in the nearest future.”
