NAB 2013: Snell to exhibit Kahuna 360, Flare

Due to show at April’s NAB Show, the Kahuna 360 multi-format switcher features FormatFusion3 technology, supporting a mix of SD, HD, 1080p and 4K. Designed to suit a variety of live production switching requirements, Kahuna 360 can now accept incoming 4K UDHTV feeds, mix them with 1080p and output as either 4K UHDTV or 1080p, at no additional cost.

Also new from Snell is Kahuna Flare, billed as the first midrange switcher to offer standard single link 1080p support alongside SD and HD formats at no extra cost. This capability is said to make it suitable for over-the-air broadcasts, IP or internet delivery platforms, and even large progressive screen presentations.

Fresh features for the ICE Channel-in-a-Box solution will also be highlighted, including the ability to allow up to four channels of HD per unit depending on the channel configuration. In addition, ICE now includes integrated 2D and 3D graphics, CG functionality with timeline editing control, and the ability to populate fields from Morpheus automation schedule events or external data sources.

Snell has also introduced new user interfaces to its Morpheus automation system, enabling a sin gle operator to monitor the highest number of playout channels. Morpheus 3.0 possess full virtual machine support to allow operation in the cloud and private data centres, facilitating lower space and power requirements.

Other products set to be showcased at NAB include: the Momentum workflow-automated media asset management solution; the KudosPro MC500 motion-compensated frame rate converter; the Luna Series of 1RU router control panels; the Sirius 800 series routers; the new IQ format converter range; and the 3Gbps-capable Hyperion monitoring solutions.
