Nevion’s Inge Hillestad joins SportTech UK line-up
The Nevion product manager will contribute to a session examining the ways in which file-based and IT technologies are changing sports production and post-production workflows. SportTech UK takes place at the West Stand, Drake Suite, at Stamford Bridge Stadium next Wednesday (24 April).
In his current role at Nevion, which is a leading provider of managed media transport and next generation digital terrestrial broadcasting solutions, Hillestad oversees the Video Gateways, a line of compact, powerful and easy-to-use products designed for real-time contribution and distribution of broadcast quality video over IP networks.
Nevion’s Video Gateways are used by broadcasters around the world for contribution of sports and other live events and by content producers and post-production facilities for remote viewing, grading and approval applications.
In 2007, Inge joined T-VIPS (which is now Nevion, following a merger between the two companies earlier this year) as a software engineer. He has since held various positions including post-sales product support, technical pre-sales support and for the past three years, he’s been a product manager.
During his time at Nevion, Inge has contributed to several interoperability and standardisation efforts related to JPEG 2000 contribution over IP. In the Video Services Forum (VSF), he currently serves as co-chair of the J2K Technical Recommendation Group that is working on interoperability for JPEG 2000 transport over IP. He’s also following related activities in DVB TM-AVC, EBU VCIP, and SMPTE.
Inge holds a M.Sc. (2002) and a Ph.D. (2007) in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, Trondheim, Norway), in the area of image and video signal processing, compression and transport over IP.
