New HD sports channel selects OASYS for playout

OASYS Automated Playout has been chosen to provide an automated playout solution for Physique TV, MENA’s first 24 hour HD television channel dedicated to fitness, healthy living, nutrition and action sport. As part of a decision to consolidate its market presence and bring all transmissions in-house, Physique TV selected the OASYS Chameleon platform to supply automated playout for its Arabic language channel broadcasting on Arabsat.

The initial order was for an SDI based solution installed in TAS Uplink Center controlled from Dubai, Physique TV’s headquarters. However, when it was discovered that the workflow needed to change to allow Physique TV to operate and manage the playout in Dubai before onward transmission to their new distribution uplink at TAS, OASYS was able to re-engineer Chameleon to seamlessly fit the new system infrastructure.

Mike Kenna, sales director, EMEA, OASYS says: “We designed a multiplex solution for Physique TV that encompasses one video channel, two audio channels, DVB subtitling, graphics and conversion to ASI. The ASI is then sent over a fibre channel link, and reconverted at the transmission facility for up-linking.  When the parameters changed during the implementation period we were able to utilise the power of Chameleon and adjust the configurations of the systems very quickly to meet the new requirements of the customer.”
