Next Generation Audio Summit 2018: Sky panel to discuss immersive audio

A panel led by Sky Sports technical manager Robin Broomfield will explore the application of immersive audio technology to different sports at the third annual Next Generation Audio Summit, which will take place on 31 October in London.

A co-production with Dolby, Next Generation Audio Summit 2018 will be held at Dolby’s facilities in Soho Square.

From football to boxing to motor-racing, Sky Sports has been among the most enthusiastic early adopters of immersive sound as it looks to complement 4K visuals with equally compelling audio content. In this panel, leading Sky Sports audio engineers and consultants will discuss the challenges of mixing different sports, as well as the overall production roadmap for immersive audio and the challenges that lie ahead in ensuring it reaches the widest possible audience.

Joining Broomfield will be: Mark Ledwidge, Sky, senior sound supervisor; Aaron Harte, Sky Production Services, sound supervisor; Kevin McCue, Sky Production Services, senior technical manager of technical operations; and Neville Hooper, NEP UK, deputy head of sound.

Due to limited space, this event is primarily invite-only, but any enquiries about possible attendance should be directed to SVG Europe contributing editor David Davies ([email protected]).
