Norway’s Fotball Media signs Mediabank deal with NEP Norway

Fotball Media will continue to use NEP’s managed services and cloud-based media asset management (MAM) platform Mediabank for a further three years after signing a contract extension with NEP Norway.

NEP has delivered the Mediabank service to Fotball Media for the last five years and after successfully competing in a thorough and stringent RFP process NEP Mediabank was once again selected as the chosen MAM platform for Fotball Media.

Fotball Media is owned by the Norwegian Football Association and the Norwegian Professional Football League, which represents all media rights for Norwegian football.

Under the terms of the agreement, NEP Mediabank will continue to secure the ingest, upload, storage and management of all Fotball Media content, providing immediate access to all content archived since 2006. Mediabank distributes the content through automated processes to different outlets, including linear TV-channels, OTT platforms, websites and different social media sites.

Using Mediabank, Fotball Media is able to focus on the production and commercial aspects of their sports and event activities without worrying about the technical aspects and delivery processes, NEP said.

“From a commercial stand-point this tool gives us control, and can increase the value of our assets, as we are very flexible in our delivery of media content,” said Knut Kristvang, the managing director of Fotball Media.

“Through the Mediabank platform we have control of our assets and how they are distributed,” he continued. “We can focus on showing great football experiences and getting the most out of our media rights, while we let NEP Mediabank handle all the technical challenges on the back-end”.

The Mediabank platform will give Fotball Media the opportunity to offer media, clubs, officials, referees and sponsors access to various content from different levels of Norwegian football, based on information stored in the recorded media. Mediabank adds a significant amount of metadata to content files, and video content is constantly being tagged, making this content easily searchable using a variety of criteria. Content can be accessed from any device using Mediabank, anywhere as needs arise – for instance, a football referee can drop by the changing room to watch a replay before meeting the press.

“We are very pleased to be able to extend and expand our partnership with Fotball Media,” said Terje Røijen-Hammer, VP of international sales for NEP Mediabank.

“Football Media has been an important partner for NEP for many years and is constantly pushing NEP and Mediabank to innovate. This helps improve our services for Football Media and their current 2,000 unique Mediabank users. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Football Media and the entire Norwegian football family for years to come.”
