Oman TV deploys multiple Abekas Mira Instant Replay servers to cover live sports

State broadcaster Oman TV, headquartered in Muscat, recently put into operation two new mobile television production vans and one mobile “fly-pack” production studio – with each system featuring an 8-Channel Abekas Mira Instant Replay server.

One of the new OB vans is deployed in the southern Omani city of Salalah, while the other van is stationed at the Oman TV headquarters in Muscat. The fly-pack production system is also staged in Muscat, but spends most of its time in the field around Oman’s sporting venues. Coverage includes major equestrian events and national football championships. The two roaming OB vans travel in their respective regions of Oman, covering single sporting events.

Planning and design for these two new OB vans and the fly-pack production system began nearly two years ago, under the professional guidance of equipment supplier and systems integrator United Broadcast, which is headquartered in Dubai, UAE. The physical construction and integration of the two OB vans took place in Germany, utilising the expertise of BFE.
