Orad at the service of new Canal+ sports show

Since the beginning of September, Orad’s PowerWall solution has been used to create video wall graphics for the studio set of the new weekend sports programme from Canal+ Sport, entitled La Grande Soirée du Samedi.

Presented at NAB 2012, Orad’s new platform is at the heart of the system deployed in Canal’s Studio 1, and combines DVE 3D animation with dynamic text overlay and the HDVG4 platform. Orad’s PowerWall accepts and manages 12 real-time 1080i HD SDI signals, and is able to generate up to 16 HD SDI signals.

PowerWall is controlled by the 3DPLAY application, allowing easy linking of content with information obtained from Stat+, the database centre of Canal+ Sports. The producer or special effects technician recalls the real-time animated sequences (clips) by using the production switchers.

Luc Pannier, internal production manager for the sports division of Canal+, comments: “We are particularly happy with Orad’s PowerWall Solution. Its performance, namely number of signals treated in real-time, make a real difference in comparison to other brands’ platforms.”

The Orad solution can deliver 8K resolution content for the 1080p HD video walls from one single box, making it possible to zoom in on content without it becoming pixelated. In addition, the solution provided by Orad can combine live video with graphics and pre-recorded video clips, and can also integrate with the newsroom and the automation system.
