Finland’s YLE is set to deliver extensive coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with live broadcasts across YLE TV2, YLE Areena and Radio Finland every day of the competition.

The Games will be shown on TV2 and Areena every day from 9am until half past midnight. Radio Suomen Olympiaradio will broadcast every day from 11:00am to 3:00pm and from 7:00pm until late at night.

Competition events will be followed almost around the clock on YLE Urheilu’s website, the YLE app and YLE Urheilu’s social media channels. The broadcaster’s Paris 2024 event page will also share the most interesting topics every day.

YLE has the rights to show three different sports simultaneously on television and on its Yle Areena streaming service, excluding water sports and basketball. Basketball and swimming reports can be heard on Yle Radio Finland.

Games content begins today (Wednesday 24 July) when football broadcasts begin. The Opening Ceremony on Friday will also be covered by TV2 and YLE Areena.

During the Games, YLE is set to broadcast more than 700 hours of content across TV and Areena and more than 130 hours on radio.

Coverage will feature commentators on athletics including Kimmo Porttila and Johannes Oikarinen (YLE, TV2, YLE Areena), and Mikko Hannula and Aaro Linnalaakso (YLE Radio Suomi). Laura Arffman and Petra Manner will be reporting from the Stade de France.

Sports journalist Riku Salminen, experienced Paris correspondent Annastiina Heikkilä, Nina Vanhatalo and Simo Leinonen will report from the race venues and home stands, among other locations. In Marseille, Riikka Smolander-Slotte will convey the mood of the sailing team together with London 2012 Olympic silver medallist Tuuli Petäjä-Sirén.

In the Pasila-based studio, the presenters will be Inka Henelius, Sami Laine and Antti-Jussi Sipilä.

In addition to live content, comprehensive result tracking, the most interesting race news and the best video clips can be found on YLE Urheilu’s website and on the app.

YLE’s digital services will publish personal stories and pieces that dive deeper into the Games, while fans can test their knowledge in the sports-themed Nutcracker game.

The broadcaster will remain onsite for The Paralympics, which run from 28 August to 8 September. Live broadcasts of the Games will be seen daily on YLE TV2 and YLE Areena, and they will also be followed on YLE Urheilu’s website and in the YLE app.

Commentators at the Paralympics will include Jari Haapala, Tuomas Törrönen and Toni Lönnroos, among others.
