Paris 2024: NOS boosts online coverage and updates smart TV app ahead of Paris Olympics

Dutch public broadcaster NOS has outlined its plans for the Paris 2024 Olympics, with coverage on television, online and radio and via an updated smart TV app.

Each Olympic day will start in the morning at 9am with ‘NOS Paris Live’. Between the live reports of the sports, there will be summaries, highlights of other sports, interviews and the latest news, NOS said.

‘NOS Paris Live’, which will be alternately presented by Rivkah op het Veld, Gert van ‘t Hof, Suse van Kleef and Sjoerd van Ramshorst, will air from 9am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm and 6pm to 10.30pm alternately on NPO 1, NPO 2 and NPO 3.

NOS has also set up a new Olympic website for the Olympic Games, with dedicated Olympic pages on NOS.nl/OS and via the NOS app.

Live sports will be shown online, and if there is a chance of multiple Dutch successes at the same time, a second livestream can be started, the broadcaster said. In addition, users will be able to access the latest news, highlights, results and the medal table plus information about when the Dutch athletes are in action.

In a press release, NOS described it as “the best way to follow everything about the Games closely. In the NOS app you can easily subscribe to live blogs and even set an alarm for specific sports live streams that you want to watch. You will then receive a notification when the live stream starts. Super handy, because there is so much sport to follow”.

The live broadcasts of the Games can be streamed directly via the Nos Live app for TVs, which launched in March last years. An updated version of the app was made available in June. In addition to Samsung and LG devices, users can now find the app on Android TV and set-top boxes from KPN and Ziggo.

The latest broadcasts, including NOS Studio Paris, can also be watched via NOS Live. There is also an agenda with an overview of the NOS broadcasts and upcoming sports with extensive program information. A “moments” function also allows viewers to scroll back to the moments they may have missed.

In addition, every morning during the Olympics a new episode of the NOS Olympic Podcast will released in the NPO Listen app and on YouTube. Plus, RadioOlympia will be on air from 9.30am to 11pm NPO Radio 1 and NOS Teletext will provide a “simple and clear” 98 pages of news about achievements, short reports and the medal table.
