Polish Ekstraklasa to be broadcast in Balkans with Arena Sport

Ekstraklasa signs contract with Arena Sports for Balkans broadcasting

Polish football league Ekstraklasa has signed a new contract with Arena Sport to broadcast matches in the Balkan territories.

Arena Sport will broadcast the spring round matches of the Ekstraklasa over its sports channels in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, North Macedonia and Kosovo.

Marcin Animucki, president of the management board at Ekstraklasa, commented: “For the spring round, we have started working with a broadcasting partner [Arena Sport] with a strong presence in the Balkan territories. The football league of Poland will be joining the schedule of Arena Sport in all of its territories, meaning that Ekstraklasa will have a guarantee of reaching the widest possible audience.”

Arena Sport’s viewers will be able to watch the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and NBA, as well as all EHF competitions. Numerous national football leagues are also represented on Arena Sport alongside the Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1 and, starting from next season, Spanish La Liga, with championships from the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia and Switzerland also available.

Nebojsa Zugic, director of TV at Arena Sport, added: “A large number of football players and coaches from our area are now playing, or have played, for Polish clubs, and that adds interest for viewers. We are convinced that the introduction of the Polish Ekstraklasa to Arena Sport will benefit both parties. Polish football will additionally gain in popularity and promotion, while Arena Sport users will get the opportunity to watch quality matches with Legia, Pogoń, Wisła, Lech, Zagłębie, Jagiellonia and other teams.”

The current broadcasting contracts in the region expire at the end of the 2020/21 season. Ekstraklasa has already begun working on an agreement regarding the co-operation for the years to come.
