Red Bee live captioning extended to MWC19 keynotes

MWC19, the mobile industry’s annual gathering in Barcelona last month, marked the fifth year that Red Bee has provided live captioning services for Mobile World Live TV.

Launched in 2009, Mobile World Live TV provides year-round online video news of the mobile industry and wall-to-wall coverage of the annual gathering of the global mobile industry at MWC19 Barcelona. As well as being made available worldwide over the internet, Mobile World Live TV’s output is distributed to screens all over the vast Fira Gran Via complex which hosted 2,400 exhibitors.

This year the captioning service was extended to provide real-time captions for the live-streamed keynote sessions in the MWC19 conference. As well as CEOs from many of the world’s biggest mobile operator groups, telecommunications infrastructure vendors and internet companies, MWC19 keynote speakers also included Mike Fries of Liberty Global, Sir Lucian Grainge of Universal Music and Thomas Bach of the International Olympic Committee.

Live captioning enables audiences at the venue to enjoy fuller access to content, whether it is being viewed in very busy and noisy environments, on silent screens or on visitors’ own smartphones or tablets. As a large international gathering, captioning is also a valuable additional support for the many attendees who are non-native English speakers.
