Rise, the membership group for gender diversity within the broadcast technology media sector today. has announced its sponsors for 2021/22, and also the launch of this year’s mentoring schemes.
2021 sees the expansion and growth of Rises’ education arm, Rise Up, as well as its fourth annual mentoring scheme in the UK, its second in Singapore, and the introduction of its first mentoring scheme in North America.
The 2021 mentoring programme sees a variety of experienced broadcast sector industry representatives, at a diversity of levels of seniority, ready to offer expertise, knowledge and guidance to mentees.
Mentees benefit from a range of support operating within COVID-19 protocols, including one-to-one mentoring contact with their pairing, monthly group meetings, facilitated peer-to-peer support and access to networking and workshops.
Carrie Wootten, managing director at Rise, said: “We are delighted to announce the 2021 mentoring programme and look forward to receiving the international mentee applications, especially those in North America for the first time. We know that the support provided through the programme is needed now more than ever during these times.”
Having recently launched its 16-18 year old mentoring programme in partnership with University Technical Colleges, Rise will be expanding this programme of work to support more young women across England and also returning to primary schools, delivering its hands on practical broadcast workshops, when it is safe to do so.
Wootten added: “I would like to thank the incredible generosity of all of our sponsors, which enable us to bring our programmes of work to women in the industry across three regions and for us also to develop our education arm Rise Up, which is critical in inspiring, educating and informing the next generation of talent. I am looking forward to working with them all to collectively reach our ambition of a gender balanced and diverse workforce.”
Rise mentoring is a free, six month programme to support women working in, or aspiring to work in the broadcast technology media sector. Past mentees have come from a variety of job roles including engineering, technical operations, sales, marketing and business development.
