Ross Mobile Productions helps Tennis Channel with 2020 (Re)Open Tour
Ross Video’s mobile productions division Ross Mobile Productions (RMP) was on hand to provide facilities for the Tennis Channel last weekend as it broadcast live coverage of a three-day men’s tennis event in Florida, the first competition on US soil between ranked players since the professional sport went on hiatus in March.
The UTR Pro Match Series featured four ATP Top 60-players: Hubert Hurkacz, Miomir Kecmanovic, Reilly Opelka and Tommy Paul.
For coverage of the event, held at a private court without spectators or public access, RMP deployed a range of Ross technology including two Cambot robotic pedestals.
A similar women’s event is due to take place 22-24 May as Tennis Channel’s 2020 (Re)Open Tour returns live tennis to fans around the world.
Ross noted that both competitions are following stringent safety precautions.
Players provide their own drinks and towels, and each is given his or her own set of marked balls for use during the match.
Commenting on the event, RMP general manager Stephen Repass said: “It’s been a tough couple of months for sports fans everywhere. We have all missed the entertainment, excitement, and camaraderie of live sports, so I’m pleased we’re in a position to help kickstart the recovery and bring some live action to tennis fans around the world.
“I suspect it’s going to be a long time before we’re back to anything resembling ‘normal’, and we’re taking every possible precaution, but every event like this must be a cause for celebration and optimism.”
