Ross Video expands Carbonite vision mixer lineup

Ross Video adds yet another frame version to its expanding Carbonite vision mixer lineup. Called Carbonite+, this new 2RU switcher frame includes all of the standard features of Carbonite but adds features developed from customer feedback.

Carbonite+ provides frame synchronisation and format conversion on every input, allowing use of up to 24 untimed signals in a production, in addition the number of internal DVE’s have been increased from four to eight.

“Some of our potential Carbonite customers have asked for additional synchronisers and converters above the six that are standard in the system, mostly for use in flight packs and mobile applications,” states Nigel Spratling, Switcher Business Development Manager, Ross Video. “The Carbonite+ engine addresses these requests by allowing any input to accept an unreferenced signal as well as provide up conversion from SD to 1080i HD format. In addition we have been able to double the DVE capabilities in this design.”

The Carbonite+ is available with 16 or 24 SDI inputs the same as the standard Carbonite platform. It is available with any Carbonite panel including the new C2X and is fully compatible with the new ViewControl and LiveAssist GUI controllers.

The Carbonite series of production switchers includes two choices on panel size combined with a 16 or 24 input chassis. Carbonite packs four channels of DVE, 4 keyers per MLE and four channels of Media-Store into a tiny 2RU chassis. Carbonite’s one or two MLE panels both offer full panel mnemonics, Ross ‘PanelGlow’ RGB buttons and of course those legendary Ross faders that are guaranteed for life.
