Ross Video intros low-cost Carbonite 2 vision mixer

Ross Video adds Carbonite 2, a new two mix effect vision mixer that is based on its bigger brothers, the Carbonite 2M and 2X, offering 16 source select buttons instead of 24 or 32.

“The success of Carbonite has been simply astonishing,” says Nigel Spratling, Ross Video, switcher business development manager. “It has surpassed all of our expectations, and we have now shipped more than 900 systems since it’s introduction.”

Spratling says the new mixer is a result of customer feedback as they were asking for something that better suits environments with space limitations but with the the power of a 2 MLE Carbonite at an even more affordable price point.

Like the other mixers in the Carbonite range, the Carbonite 2 is available with 16 or 24 multi-definition SDI inputs and nine internally generated sources. Carbonite 2 can also be configured with the new Carbonite+ and MultiMedia processing engines, and includes ViewControl touchscreen production controller and LiveAssist Graphical User Interfaces. When purchased as a Studio System Package with the Ross Video BlackStorm playout server and XPression motion graphics system, it becomes what the company calls a complete production powerhouse.

A 16 input Carbonite 2 has a US list price of just $32,995. Taking the place of the Carbonite 2M as the most affordable, yet fully featured 2 MLE switcher on the market today.  The Carbonite 2 is available immediately.
