RT Software supports StypeGRIP for virtual studio and augmented reality applications
RT Software has announced support of the full range of StypeGRIP camera tracking solutions within its tOG-VR3d solution for virtual studios and augmented reality graphics. StypeGRIPs main product, the Stype Kit, retro fits to an industry standard Jimmy Jib providing full camera tracking data and thus the basis for VR and AR graphics. Add in the RT Software rendering capabilities and the result could be a compelling realtime broadcast experience combining the real with the virtual.
RT Software is one of the first companies that has integrated both network and serial protocols from Stype allowing full use of Stype lens calibration data. With RT Software’s roots in BBC election VR graphics the capability and quality of the graphics possible with this solution makes sense. It is also affordable. The Stype Kit is retro fitted to the jib without physical modifications and the option of perpetual, annual or short-term licences from RT Software means the solution can fit all budget situations.
One of the key benefits of the combined solution is its portability and ease of set up, making it suitable for stadium or away day applications. tOG-VR3d is possibly unique in the industry in that it combines rendering, playout control and even the graphics editor all on one HP z820 Workstation. High quality VR and AR graphics away from a traditional studio infrastructure is now a reality.
“This is an important partnership for RT Software and its customers. We are seeing a strong demand for traditional virtual studios, along with the more recent AR approach of adding virtual graphics into the real set. We already have projects in the UK, Europe and Australia involving StypeGRIP, and are looking forward to our first TX this month (Dec 2014),” commented Mike Fredriksen, commercial director RT Software.
“The integration with RT Software has been surprisingly easy,” said Stjepan Cajic, CEO & head of R&D at StypeGRIP. “We issued the new protocol allowing a quick lens calibration on our side, they wrote the necessary plug in their side and when they came to test with us, it just worked. They are a very technically competent company and we love working with them.”
