Seventh Vision Mixers Show set for May 15 at Sky Studios

FR A VM showThe seventh annual Vision Mixers Show will take place on Monday May 15 at Sky Studios in Osterley, West London. The one-day show brings together all seven of the main vision mixing manufacturers, says organiser Trevor Bailey – Blackmagic Design, EVS/DYVI, Grass Valley, NewTek, Ross Video, SAM and Sony — each showing their latest high definition and 4K vision mixing desks in one room. The event will be £10 to attend for vision mixers, engineers, facility managers and other broadcast professionals.

The concept is simple: the UK show brings together the people who operate and engineer vision mixing desks in studios and outside broadcast facilities (many of whom are freelance) with the vision mixer vendors with a view to gaining more knowledge about the desks. Since most broadcast professionals are freelance, training and information on the latest mixer software updates don’t always filter down to the end-user.

On show will be: Sony XVS Processor & Panel; SAM (Snell) Kahuna Maverik; Ross Carbonite Black & Acuity; EVS DYVI  IP Based Mixer; Grass Valley Kayenne including the new V-Series K-Frame; Blackmagic Design ATEM Switcher; and the NewTek Tricaster.

“We are so lucky to have all the big players in the industry behind us,” says Bailey. “We have the support of Sky Sports and BT Sport, along with all the top vision mixing manufacturers. It’s a great day out with all the manufacturers present to educate and demonstrate to the attending VMs and engineers.

“It is not about sales (like IBC and NAB) and everyone turns up on that basis,” he says. This year the talk is all about IP and also learning the current quad HD setup on various mixers which, like any other new technology, creates a need for education among the (mainly freelance) operators.”
