SGL announces Euro debut of FlashNet web-based interface
Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, will demonstrate its web-based interface for its flagship SGL FlashNet archive system for the first time in Europe. FlashNet users now have a number of additional features that further simplify workflow procedures and enhance usability of the system.
Using SGL FlashNet, broadcasters and content owners can very easily archive and restore material for smaller projects that fall outside the sphere of the controlling MAM or automation systems. The new FlashNet GUI’s front-end provides users with all of the tools required to quickly and easily manage their archived content. Once in the archive metadata can be extracted or added manually. For finding and retrieving clips and sequences, the GUI contains powerful search utilities that allow users to quickly locate content in the archive, and to restore any material required to the original or alternate location. The interface can be used on any platform – Windows, Mac, or Linux.
In addition to the new FlashNet web interface, SGL is also announcing FlashBrowse 3, a client-based web tool that further enhances and simplifies the archive workflow. FlashBrowse 3 provides at-archive browse creation, automatically generating browse resolution copies of clips as the high resolution versions are archived. The Flashbrowse 3 interface, which is an extension of the new FlashNet GUI, includes a proxy-viewer, and allows operators to view and scrub through their search results before instigating restores or partial file restores directly from their browser window.
SGL will also highlight its successful rollout of next-generation archiving technology with the demonstration of SGL FlashNet and LTFS interoperability in a production environment.
The company has also appointed Rajesh Patel as Product Manager. With over 20 years’ industry experience Patel has a strong commercial and technical communications background. He will be responsible for the continued development of SGL’s entire product portfolio as well as overseeing the production and launch of new solutions and third-party development.
Patel has held a number of senior roles with key manufacturers during his career. Prior to joining SGL he was Product Specialist at Snell responsible for the company’s automation product line. Before joining Snell he was Technical Operations Manager at DMA-Media (Middle East) where he managed the outsourced ADMC archiving project. He has also held positions at Grass Valley, Harris, VizRT, and Avid.
