Chair of Judges and SVG Europe Advisory Board Member, Peter Angell, said:

“We were once again overwhelmed by the quality and breadth of the submissions for the Sports TV Awards – with entries from all around Europe covering a range of different sports.

“It was always clear that the European sports broadcasting and production community had gone to great lengths to keep sports TV on air during the pandemic, but what is inspiring is that they were still able to innovate in 2020 despite COVID-19. The entries reflect that.

“As judges, we had great trouble shortlisting and picking winners because the quality of the work, and the quality of the submissions, was so high. But we got there. Thank you to all the judges for giving up their time to help with this year’s awards. And a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter.

“I believe that the shortlist showcases the best of European sports television – and with so many great entries, the ceremony on 28 October promises to be as exciting and dramatic as the sporting events that are nominated. Good luck to all the shortlisted entrants.”

The Sports Production & Technology Summit incorporating the 2021 Sports TV Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 28 October at Chelsea F.C.’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London.

The change of date from Thursday 9 September to Thursday 28 October accommodates the venue’s revised schedule while giving SVG Europe an even better chance of delivering a genuine pan-European audience in line with current COVID-19 protocols on international travel.

The repositioning of the Sports Production & Technology Summit and the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards after NAB and before IBC will also position it as an attractive destination and allow sponsors, and awards nominees the chance to showcase their recently premiered technologies.
