Simplestream’s Media Manager helps Racing UK to extend Day Pass viewing service

Live streaming and live-to-VOD solutions provider Simplestream has announced an extension to Racing UK’s ‘Day Pass’ service, a pay-per-view service that offers consumers a convenient way to watch the UK’s top horse racing. For the first time, sign-ups can be made with just a few clicks using a mobile phone and payment is made directly through the consumer’s phone bill, appealing to increasing consumer appetite for immediate and seamless video services.

Racing UK is a leading provider of live horse racing action, broadcasting over 4000 live races from 34 of the UK’s top racecourses every year. The automatic payment system, powered by Simplestream’s Media Manager solution, offers consumers instant access to live and catch-up footage, avoiding the need for credit card details to be entered or multiple sign-ups. The new service is an extension of the existing Day Pass service which is currently available to users on TV, mobile and online and allows consumers to watch as much content as they want until midnight, and only pay for the days they view.

Adam Smith, CEO and founder of Simplestream, commented: “It’s great to be continuing our partnership with Racing UK, having previously launched their multi-screen international service in 2014. Demand for premium sports content is increasing, and content providers should be maximising the opportunities of a market that gives consumers more say in where, how and when they want to access and pay for video services. Our Media Manager solution helps providers do this by creating the greatest functionality with the least effort for both providers and consumers. Our work has clearly demonstrated that offering more flexible video services can make a huge difference to increasing customer satisfaction.”

Simplestream’s Media Manager solution is a cloud based live-streaming, TVEverywhere and live-to-VOD solution offered through a bespoke SaaS model. The solution enables multiplatform OTT delivery of traditional broadcast content, including live streaming, real-time video-clipping, creation of VOD from live broadcasts, and automated syndication on Facebook and third-party sites, within a single unified workflow.
