Sky Germany and SVG Europe to hold COVID-safe in-person sports TV industry event in October

Bucking the trend across the continent, Sky Germany and SVG Europe will be holding an in-person COVID-safe sports broadcasting conference in Munich next month.

The invite-only Sky Sport Summit 2020 will take place on Thursday 8 October at the Dolby Cinema inside the Mathäser Filmpalast and will feature panel discussions and presentations as well as a networking lunch and a screening of the film Tenet.

Speakers will include Devesh Raj, the chief executive of Sky Germany, Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) head of audiovisual rights Marcus Beisiegel and Sportcast managing director Alexander Günther.

There will also be contributions from Vodafone, Telefónica, Dolby, TVN Mobile Production and Vizrt and a thought-provoking non-sports session on ‘Crisis management in refugee settlements.’

Alessandro Reitano, director of sports production at Sky Germany and the chairman of the SVG Europe advisory board, said:

“After a very long time of virtual events only, I’m very happy that we are able to hold this event with the necessary support from SVG Europe in an exclusive setting on-site and we’re looking forward to a great event with the necessary time for networking.

“We’ll talk and discuss a very intensive and challenging year 2020, but we will also look ahead. There are changes, but also many opportunities that will result from this crisis.”

The event will be held in strict accordance with local health and safety regulations and delegate numbers will be severely limited to allow for social distancing.
