On Thursday 8 October, for the first time in more than 300 days, members of the sports broadcasting and production community met face-to-face at an SVG Europe event. It felt huge, even if the event was small.

Sky Sport Summit 2020, produced by Sky Germany in association with SVG Europe, took place at the Dolby Cinema inside the Mathäser Filmpalast in Munich and featured panel discussions and presentations as well as a networking lunch.

Hosted by Sky Germany director of sports production and SVG Europe advisory board chair Alessandro Reitano, the speakers included Devesh Raj, the chief executive of Sky Germany, Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) head of audiovisual rights Marcus Beisiegel and Sportcast managing director Alexander Günther.

There were also be contributions from Vodafone, Telefónica, Dolby, TVN Mobile Production and Vizrt.

The event adhered strictly with local health and safety regulations and delegate numbers were severely limited to allow for social distancing.

A full report on the event will be published on the SVG Europe website next week.
