Sony has returned as a sponsor of SVG Europe. Known for its innovations around imaging, IP, the cloud and visualisation, Sony has unveiled a number of new products in the past year.

Key among these is the HDC-F5500 system camera, which has a Super 35mm 4K CMOS global shutter image sensor for a shallow depth of field and high frame rate capability. It was used for the first time in Europe during a live sports broadcast scenario as part of the 4K HDR workflow used to capture the action of the Tyson Fury versus Dillian Whyte fight at Wembley in April.

Sony’s has also continued to enhance the offerings within its Ci Media Cloud Services, an ecosystem of cloud-based applications built for organisations to collect, organise, collaborate, deliver and archive media assets. In-app commenting, clipping and live streams, and integration with Hawk-Eye are just some of the features here.

When it comes to virtual prodiction, Sony’s Crystal LED B-series has been custom designed. The scalable series is available in two pixel pitch sizes allowing productions to build LED volumes to their desired size and resolution. Each panel features an anti-reflection coating, a 170-degree wide viewing angle and a wide colour gamut.
