SOS Global Express reports “excellent” progress on World Cup shipping

Broadcast logistics and transportation services specialist SOS Global Express confirms that work on behalf of the HBS at the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil is proceeding apace, with its North Carolina, London and Hamburg offices collaborating closely on the historic project.

SOS Global’s commitment on behalf of the HBS – which includes shipping the entire 4K infrastructure – runs to more than 100 seafreight containers, reports managing director Stephen O’Connell.

The IBC was delivered during March and O’Connell anticipates that the rest of its shipping obligations will be fulfilled by late May. During the World Cup itself, SOS Global will have a team of about 20 personnel on the ground in Brazil.

“We are very happy with the progress being made,” reports O’Connell. “The customs [process] has really smoothed out in the wake of the Confederations Cup and we are looking at [typical clearance] of 2-3 days.”

The recently inaugurated London and Hamburg offices are working in close conjunction with SOS Global’s New Bern, NC HQ. “We’re really seeing a lot of opportunity in the European market,” confirms O’Connell.

Meanwhile, broadcast TV remains absolutely integral to the workload of SOS Global (“around 75%”) as the company moves towards its 30th anniversary in 2016.
