Sports Graphics Spotlight: More speakers revealed for 22 February online event

Speakers from BBC Sport, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sky Sports, and IMG will take part in SVG Europe’s Sports Graphics Spotlight 2023 later this month.

Taking place on the afternoon of Wednesday 22 February, the online event, sponsored by Ross Video, will discuss how 2D, 3D and AR can be successfully deployed to improve storytelling and aid presentation during live sports coverage.

In a session called ‘Back to the Future: Best practice for virtual production in sports broadcasting’, a panel of experts will discuss the challenges and possible solutions when it comes to virtual sets and virtual graphics, from coping with bad shadows and teleporting talent, to efficient deployment and designing killer sets.
The speakers will include BBC Sport Creative Director (Motion) John Murphy and Warner Bros. Discovery Director of Graphics and Innovation Alex Dinnin. They will be joined by Mike Watts, Lead Director at IMG’s Premier League Productions, and Sky Sports Senior Technical Specialist, OB Graphics and Data, Rebecca Page.

Other sessions will include a keynote interview with BK Johannessen, Epic Games business director for Unreal Engine, and a Thought Leader Perspectives panel debating what’s next for sports graphics featuring speakers from Moov, Deltatre, Chyron and SMT.
