Oscar Lago Dominguez, head of TV directors, GRUP MEDIAPRO, and Xavier Figueras, WorldSBK live coverage manager, MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, have joined the speaker lineup for Sports Production Innovation Summit 2026.
Taking place in Barcelona on 21 May, the summit, produced in partnership with GRUP MEDIAPRO and sponsored by Matrox, brings together industry leaders to explore the advancements redefining broadcast sports production. The latest innovations in AI-driven production, cloud-based workflows, cost-effective content creation and the future of centralised and remote production will all be discussed.
In ‘Directing the Action: Crafting the story of live sport’, Dominguez and Figueras will examine how directors balance storytelling, teamwork and technical innovation across today’s live sports environment, while discussing the growing role of remote production, augmented reality, graphics and data-driven insights in enhancing storytelling and delivering compelling coverage for global audiences.
Also on the agenda, Formula E’s Hamish Harris and Tim Glass will share exclusive insight into the groundbreaking ‘All Cars Live’ initiative, which pushes the limits of RF bandwidth, remote production, and UHD workflows, while F1’s Dean Locke and Phil Marshall of Sky Sports will share details of the broadcaster’s enhanced coverage of Formula One for 2026 and beyond.
In addition, Jens Cornelius Knudsen, managing director, Norway, DMC Production, will examine where automation is adding value in live multi-camera productions, from intelligent camera systems that track play and generate usable angles, to software-driven workflows that reduce reliance on traditional gallery roles.
Later in the day, Guillermo Jimenez Navarro, director of broadcast engineering, OBS, will take part in ‘The SVG Europe Explainer: Software-defined remote production for sports’. This session will go into detail on software-defined solutions and how they can be applied to remote sports production in a standardised way, thanks to the Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) and Media Exchange Layer (MXL).
