EMG UK’s Remote Operations Centre (ROC), as used by BT Sport and BBC Sport to facilitate remote production of their Premier League matches post-lockdown has been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Production Achievement – Innovation’ category at SVG Europe’s prestigious Sports TV Awards 2021.

The ROC was behind a TV first with BBC Sport’s live coverage of Southampton v Manchester City in July 2020, with a 5.7m Live TV audience. Since then EMG UK has safely delivered over 280 Live TX days for Tier 1 sports across all strands from Football, Rugby, and Boxing to Triathlons, from within the UK and mainland Europe in HD, 50P, and UHD HDR. The ROC has saved 200,000 miles of UK crew travel since being built in less than four weeks by EMG’s engineers during lockdown. This enabled them to safely deliver major contracts and continues to be a safe and secure environment for the Production team.

Adam Berger at CTV Outside Broadcast told SVG Europe’s Heather McLean “Remote surface production takes out the major expense of remote productions; the connectivity. Essentially, it is the most efficient and safest way of delivering remote production and operations.”

The winners of the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2021, sponsored by Canon, will be announced on Thursday 28 October at Chelsea F.C. during the Sport Production & Technology Summit 2021. Registration for both events is now open to members and sponsors here.
