Serving as host broadcast partner for the 36th America’s Cup, Circle-O and Riedel Communications have been shortlisted in three of the most competitive categories at the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2021: ‘Outstanding Production Achievement – Innovation’, ‘Outstanding Audio Innovation’, and ‘Outstanding Production Achievement – Event’

The Riedel solution, implemented by Circle-O, harnessed the combined horsepower of leading-edge hardware and software technologies to drive an innovative 360-degree technology approach, combining live TV production, event infrastructure, and race management. Faced with extreme marine conditions, the comprehensive approach included fresh camera solutions, new audio technologies, and sensor technology, with bespoke equipment aboard each of the competing yachts. Many of the solutions used onboard were also matched to the specific signaling and communications needs of each racing team.

Thanks to this first-of-a-kind approach, audiences watching the 36th America’s Cup enjoyed a cinematic production with extraordinary vantage points and dynamic sound as the remarkable AC75 hydrofoil monohulled yachts flew over the water (literally) at speeds up to 50 knots (about 60 mph).

The winners of the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2021, sponsored by Canon, will be announced on Thursday 28 October at Chelsea F.C. during the Sport Production & Technology Summit 2021. Registration for both events is now open to members and sponsors here.
