Andy Stout, Editorial Director, SVG Europe

In an effort to better serve the production needs of sport broadcasters, teams, and leagues in Europe and the UK, the Sports Video Group (SVG) has launched SVG Europe, a newsletter and Web site dedicated to meeting the information needs of the European community.

“European sport broadcasters and leagues have been an important part of the SVG mission since our launch in 2006 when we reported from the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy,” says Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG editorial director. “But now we are ready to formalize our presence in that vital community with a dedicated editorial team.”

Andy Stout, who has reported and edited for leading European publications including Broadcast, Televisual, TVBEurope, and the IBC Daily, has been named SVG Europe editorial director. In that role he will oversees operations that will include a freelance team and publication of a weekly email newsletter, a Web site with daily updates, and the launch of a series of European-based events and seminars.

“Andy’s respect within the European editorial and manufacturing community, love of sport, and solid leadership, writing, and editing skills make him a natural fit to lead our efforts,” says Kerschbaumer.

The launch of SVG Europe reflects a global sports marketplace where there is more need than ever to bring together industry leaders from different markets and continents. The launch of this new, independent affiliate organization covering the dynamic European sports technology scene, will meet those needs, create new opportunities for our member companies, and position SVG as the international voice the sports broadcasting and production community.

For several years SVG has built relationships overseas with our Technology Achievement awards at IBC and editorial coverage of major global sporting events like the Olympics, Wimbledon, and the World Cup.
