Sportway expands into central Europe with Czech Ice Hockey Association live streaming partnership

Sportway, in partnership with the Czech Ice Hockey Association (CIHA), is set to install live streaming systems in 50 arenas across the Czech Republic, representing Sportway’s first large-scale installation of its artificial intelligence (AI) production systems outside of the Nordics.

The CIHA joins the national hockey associations in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway by utilising Sportway’s technology in nearly 500 installed production systems across Europe. The hockey-rich culture of the Czech Republic will be showcased via Sportway’s live streaming capabilities and CIHA clubs will be able to take advantage of technological benefits, including Sportway’s exclusive Team Accounts to accelerate player development through data analysis and video coaching tools, as well as Situation Room capabilities to better ensure player safety.

“Our partnership with the Czech Ice Hockey Association is an opportunity to marry their progressive approach to showcasing hockey and our industry-leading technology systems, which will ultimately better serve CIHA teams, players and fans with more streaming access to the sport they love. Additionally, we’re proud that the Czech Republic represents our first project outside of the Nordics, as we continue to gain momentum after more than tripling our network of optimised facilities for this upcoming hockey season,” said Daniel Franck, CEO, Sportway.

Sportway delivers automated video and data productions using AI to film, produce and broadcast live games, ensuring premium content on a personal level for players, families and fans. Together with its AI live production partner Live Arena, Sportway’s video productions are driven by an algorithm specially developed for ice hockey. All the action is captured using Sportway’s fixed, unmanned cameras, which create a panoramic view of the entire rink. The patented AI technology then automatically follows the game by panning and zooming in on key action, providing a professional viewing experience. The technology can also be linked with the Czech Ice Hockey Associations’ database and game secretariats to automatically generate real-time graphics, as well as replays and post-game highlights.

Sportway’s network now has nearly 500 installed production systems planned across Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Denmark and Norway, with expanded development across a wide spectrum of sports ranging from basketball and volleyball to floorball, handball, football and others.
