Sunset+Vine confirms broadcast production deal with PSL

Pakistan Super League (PSL) has signed a broadcast production deal with UK-based TV sports production and media companySunset+Vine to cover the league. With this deal in place, PSL will reserve all production rights – a first in Pakistan cricket’s history – for the tournament, thereby ensuring top quality coverage of the league as per international standards.

With cutting edge technology making its way to cricket, Sunset+Vine has been a leader in the broadcast circuit by introducing innovations such as the Red Zone, Snickometer, the Analyst, Hawk-Eye and the Ultra-slo-mo camera in cricket. The company has also partnered with the Marylebone Cricket Club to run the Lord’s Cricket Ground channel. Most recently, Sunset+Vine covered the ICC World T20 Qualifiers in Scotland and Ireland, which was beamed live across the world. The PSL coverage will be executive produced, by Huw Bevan who runs Sunset+Vine Asia’s business.

Jeff Foulser, chairman of Sunset+Vine, says: “The PSL promises to be one of the most exciting cricket events of the year and we are delighted to have been appointed the PCB’S production partners. Sunset+Vine’s record as innovators and producers of high quality live sports programming is well matched by the ambitious and hugely professional approach which the PSL’s management leadership team have demonstrated in outlining their exciting plans for the new tournament. We look forward to working with the PSL team to create some memorable coverage which will showcase the very best of Pakistan cricket on the world stage in the game’s most exciting cricket format.”

The PSL will take place from February 4-24, 2016, in Dubai and Sharjah, with five teams set to take part in the first edition of the league. With production rights awarded, the next step in the PSL journey will be awarding of broadcast rights. This will be followed by the awarding of sponsorship rights after which franchise ownership rights will be awarded. The player draft is set to take place in December with over 150 foreign players having already signed up to take part in the draft.
