Sunset+Vine secures host broadcast deal for World Boxing Super Series
Sunset+Vine has won the contract to become production partner and host broadcaster for season 2 of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS).
Promoted by COMOSA AG, the WBSS is a multi-weight division knock out boxing tournament.
Launched in 2017, it brings together the ‘best of the best’ fighters to compete at various venues around the world for the Muhammad Ali trophy. Season 2 features three weight categories, Bantamweight, Super Lightweight and Cruiserweight, and spans 15 fight nights with a total of 21 bouts.
Within the terms of the deal, Sunset+Vine will deliver and manage all live production capabilities as well making both a 30-minute WBSS fight night preview show and 30-minute fight night review show for each event.
In addition, Sunset+Vine will provide a range of digital services each week; streaming the press conference; weigh-in and fight nights as well as additional creative production including promotions and news clippings.
Jeff Foulser, chairman, at Sunset+Vine, discussing the deal, said: “The World Boxing Super Series is breathing new life into boxing, both from a competition and viewing standpoint. Its elimination style allows for elite fighters to quickly find themselves in contention to compete for meaningful titles and prize purses.
“The quality of fighting has been world-class and the schedule of events, and the production that is built in around them, is making a real impact in terms of establishing the World Boxing Super Series as the platform around which to consolidate both weight divisions and TV audiences for the sport.”
The six semi-finals of the WBSS are scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2019 with three finals in Summer 2019.
ITV showed the Cruiserweight and Super Middleweight WBSS finals in 2018, including George Groves vs Callum Smith, via its Box Office channel.
