The Next Generation Audio Summit will take place in London at Dolby’s renowned Soho Square Screening Room on 10 November.

Anyone who has attended an audio trade show over the last 2-3 years will be aware that broadcast audio is now on the verge of profound evolution thanks to the advent of what has come to be known as ‘Next Generation Audio’. Encompassing a variety of technologies and techniques designed to deliver a more ‘immersive’ and/or customisable experience for viewers at home, NGA is expected to resonate strongly in the high-impact world of sports production.

With ambitious trials taking place at several major sports tournaments over the summer, SVG Europe has partnered with iconic audio technology developer Dolby – whose latest innovations include the immersive Dolby Atmos system – to produce a special summit exploring the potential of Next Generation Audio for sports. The packed half-day programme will also include an update on audio networking and an examination of the challenges that lie ahead for broadcasters as they work to implement these new technologies – and ensure they have the personnel with the necessary skills and expertise to make the most of them.

The Next Generation Audio Summit will also include a networking lunch and drinks, as well as special demos overseen by Dolby.

“It is arguable that the world of broadcast audio is on the verge of its most significant changes since the transition from analogue to digital got underway in earnest,” says SVG Europe managing editor, David Davies, who is overseeing the event programme. “We are delighted to be able to join forces with one of the leading proponents of this new generation of audio to deliver what should be a fascinating blend of presentations and panel sessions.”

“So much of the discussion around next generation broadcasting focuses on the developments in video delivery, such as 4K and HDR.  These technology transitions are also providing the opportunity to deliver enhanced audio experiences across all platforms “ says Dolby’s product marketing manager, Rob France, “With so much potential for enhanced audio experiences to be delivered we’re extremely pleased to have the opportunity to partner with SVG Europe to deliver a summit focused on how NGA can benefit the consumer experience and to discuss the challenges that are being identified and addressed as this is being trailed at major events.”

A full programme for the event will be launched in July.
