SVG Europe announces IBC conference session on sports production for a global audience

On 13 September, SVG Europe will produce an official IBC conference panel session with the topic of ‘Major International Sports Events: Producing for a Global Audience’. The wide-ranging discussion will take place in the IBC Forum from 1430 to 1600.

The Olympics and World Cup have dominated the attention of sports fans around the globe in 2014 and also created new challenges as more content than ever has been created and distributed to viewers. These developments do, however, raise a number of critical questions, including: how are IP and file-based workflows changing the nature of sports content creation and distribution? How did broadcast rightsholders benefit financially from these new approaches to covering big time sports? And what is the promise vs. reality of new platforms, like second-screen applications, and the much-trumpeted Ultra HD?

Discussing these developments and sharing their insights with Sports Video Group director Ken Kerschbaumer will be a panel of leading industry executives and creatives including: Niclas Ericsson, FIFA TV, director; Mark Grinyer, Sony Professional Solutions Europe, programme manager, 2014 World Cup; Sotiris Salamouris, OBS, head of engineering and technical operations; and Jorg Sander, HBS, director of host broadcast operations.
