SVG Europe announces Remote Production Audio Forum for 14 September

SVG Europe is delighted to announce that it will host a Remote Production Audio Forum in Amsterdam on the morning of 14 September. The one-hour event – which is sponsored by Calrec – will assess the potential of remote production for streamlining audio workflows, reducing costs, and freeing up OB truck and flyaway space.

Remote Production Audio Forum will take place at the DeLaMar Theatre ahead of SVG Europe’s Sport Production Summit at the same venue. In addition to a thought leadership presentation from Calrec that will highlight the company’s latest developments in this area, the session will feature a discussion between Calrec and Net Insight about their ongoing collaboration, and a panel debate on the potential of remote production with input from systems integrators and outside broadcast service providers.

Joining moderator and SVG Europe Editor David Davies will be speakers including: Henry Goodman, Calrec, Director of Product Development; Peter Walker, Calrec, Product Manager; Larissa Görner, Net Insight, Product Management – with more to be announced shortly.

Explaining Calrec’s decision to support this new-format event, Goodman comments: “Remote production is becoming more prevalent as broadcasters look to it as a means of producing more content and reducing operating costs, while maintaining high-quality live content. Live production has always been resource intensive and expensive using traditional OB production. This limits the amount of content broadcasters can bring to their audience, and with the advent of 2nd second screens, IPTV, etc, there is an increasing demand for more content – and in some cases, localised content.

“However, remote production has its own very specific technical issues, such as latency, control and infrastructure. While technology providers are proposing new workflows, broadcasters are exploring the possibilities and how they might integrate them into their own infrastructures. Calrec is pleased to be able to support this SVG Europe initiative, which is helping the people who will benefit most from these new technologies.”
