SVG Europe announces SportTech 2014 event plans

After the Football Production Summit taking place in Paris later this month, the next destination on the SVG Europe event itinerary will be London, where SportTech Europe will take place on 7 May. To be held at the Emirates Stadium – home of Arsenal Football Club – the busy one-day programme will focus on emerging technologies and the ways in which they are shaping global sports production.

Following the single-sport emphasis of the Football Production Summit, SportTech Europe will occupy a broader canvas, looking at the hot-button issues affecting the entirety of sports broadcast production in Europe.

Sessions will include a keynote presentation on the creation, first year and future of BT Sport; an overview of the EBU’s ongoing standardisation efforts; a panel drawing on the input of content producers; an update on new OB and studio projects; and a consideration of the extent to which 2014 will be considered a landmark year for sports events and broadcast technology.

Speakers will include the EBU’s head of media fundamentals and production technology, Hans Hoffmann, and CTV OB managing director Barry Johnstone. More details of panellists will be released in the coming weeks.
