SVG Europe confirms SportTech graphics summit for Dublin, 18 May

SVGE SportTech 2016 logo v5bSVG Europe is delighted to announce that on 18 May it will mark two important ‘firsts’ in its ongoing development as a trade association, conference producer and content creator serving the European sports production industry. Not only will it be the inaugural SVG Europe event to take place in Ireland, SportTech 2016 will also be the group’s first themed summit in the area of graphics production for sports.

Among multiple sessions, SportTech 2016 – subtitled ‘Graphics in Focus: Live, Virtual, Virtualisation’ – will examine real-time graphics applications for studio and remote production, augmented reality presentation, live virtual graphics, and the increasingly vital issue of social media integration.

The event will also tackle the hot topic of format standardisation as the transition from SDI to IP-based production continues, along with the practicalities surrounding VR for sports broadcast. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about planning, challenges and threats to the outside broadcast community as another historic summer of sports draws near.

In addition, the busy programme will deliver insights into SportTech host event The Aviva Stadium Dublin. Home to both the Irish rugby union team (IRFU) and the Republic of Ireland football team (FAI), the 51,700-seat venue also hosts some Leinster Rugby games, and has staged both the Heineken Cup Final and Europa League Final in recent years.

In traditional SVG Europe fashion, there will be an extensive tour of the venue, as well as multiple networking opportunities for delegates over lunch and post-summit drinks.

A full programme, details of speakers and registration information will be released shortly, but in the meantime please mark your diaries for what promises to be an invaluable insight into broadcast graphics – undoubtedly one of the most exciting and rapidly-evolving areas of the sports production landscape.

Title sponsor for SportTech 2016 is Quantum, whilst Grass Valley is confirmed as event sponsor.
